Félicité is a large-format work (89 x 116 cm) created in 2023 by the French artist Sophie Dumont. In this gestural and vibrant composition, human forms are suggested amidst masses of incandescent red, muted grays, and chalky whites. The paint is rich, applied with a palette knife, revealing a raw and emotional energy. This unique oil painting embodies a suspended moment, a sensual surrender, poised between tension and tenderness. It follows in the tradition of the great European expressionists, while bearing the artist's personal signature, somewhere between abstraction and figurative suggestion.
