In Jeu de figures, Sophie Dumont constructs a composition where geometry gradually reveals presences. Curves, circles and interlocking shapes respond to each other without ever imposing a single interpretation: depending on the viewer, they can evoke figures, objects or revert to pure abstraction.

The palette combines deep green, greyish blue, cream, ochre, powdery pink, and burgundy, punctuated by a more vibrant orange-red. The manipulation of the material, the layering, and the marks of the palette knife disrupt the rigidity of the forms and give the surface its full pictorial dimension.
