In La Part des choses, Sophie Dumont composes a space where each form finds its place in a collective construction. The off-white and warm grey planes illuminate the muted greens, the ochre curves, and the two burgundy accents.
A large, deep green shape anchors the composition in the lower left. A lighter semicircle responds to it in the center, while an ochre arc connects the planes in the upper section. The variations in scale and the shifting curves guide the eye between these elements.
The title evokes a way of considering things in their relationships, giving each its due weight. This search for balance extends to the material itself: the layers of oil, the scraping and the reworking reveal the earlier colors, enriching the simplicity of the forms.
